Walking by Brothers Water

It is worth diverting from the main road over the Kirkstone Pass to visit Brothers Water and stroll along the water’s edge. This path through trees is one of my favourites in early spring, with views of the mountains and the warmth of the morning sun.

Helm Crag from Grasmere

Looking north to Grasmere from Dale End, the winter sun floods the village and Helm Crag with golden light.

Rydal Water

One of the gentler, smaller lakes, Rydal Water provides the walker with pleasant views and the path wanders through delightful woods and also along the water’s edge. In autumn the colours are particularly inviting.

Keswick and Derwentwater from Skiddaw

The view of Derwentwater and the Jaws of Borrowdale is reportedly one of the best six views in the world. This aspect from a popular climb up Skiddaw, looking south into the central Lakes, certainly is enjoyed by large numbers of visitors.
