The artist's own fireplace at Town Foot, Troutbeck, where she lived before moving to Grasmere. It was an ancient 17th Century farmhouse with a roaring fire, made more attractive by the chimney crane, fire-irons and gleaming brasses that must have been part of the daily lives of those living in such a sitting room and cooking on the open fire.
